Susan’s Pleasant Pheasant Farm

Susan’s Pleasant Pheasant Farm

Have you ever been to Catskills in upstate New York? If not, then please please please go!
It is an amazing place to be for weekend/long weekend trips round the year, specially for folks living in the Tri-State area. I don’t think it will be too far for folks down in Pennsylvania as well, if you are planning a long weekend trip.

This was not our first trip to Catskills. We have been there last year during fall and fell in love with it. If you have been there, you know that B&B’s and Airbnb’s  are quite popular up there and the best option for lodging too. Last year we went to a place called Mt. Utsayantha in Catskills, stayed at a B&B and loved it. So naturally this year while researching on B&B’s up there, we came across this place called ‘Susan’s Pleasant Pheasant Farm‘. Well, quite honestly, the name helped make half the decision; being so catchy of course and the other half of the decision was made by the humongous amount of reviews and recommendations this particular B&B has on the internet.

So without wasting a moment, I immediately called them up to book a summer weekend at this B&B. When I called I learnt that the only weekend they have available during summer is the weekend of August 10-12. Mind you, this call was made in February and they were already booked out! Obviously, I made the reservations right away and waited for August to come. Little did we know what a treat we have gotten ourselves into!

The B&B is roughly a 4 hour drive from our place in New Jersey. Once you hit the Interstate 87 North the drive gets pretty scenic. Even though you will lose your telephone reception about an hour before you reach, Susan’s detailed directions will guide you to the right place.

Susan’s place is a charming, cozy 2-bedroom suite, sitting right on Lake Wawaka in a picturesque setting. The suite is complete with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a mini kitchenette along with a small dining table. The suite has a small private backyard and is perfect size for a small family. The best part according to me were the two picture bay windows in both the rooms from which you can have an unobstructed lavish view of the lake from any part of the room.

If you are staying at Susan’s, Kayaking on the lake, biking around in the neighborhood and swimming/playing in the stream are complimentary. Trust me, you would not want to miss an opportunity to any of these complimentary benefits as all of them are nothing but exceptional fun!

Oh! Did I mention that Susan and her husband cooks up an amazing spread of breakfast every morning of your stay? Yes, they are an extremely warm, accommodating couple and will try their best to make you feel at home. Also if the weather permits, you can have the breakfast outside with a gorgeous view of the lake. There are several other restaurants to suit everyone’s tastebuds in and around the area in short driving distances to take care of your other meals.

Overall, if you manage to get a reservation at this exceptional B&B in the Catskills, NY, you should not miss the chance of staying there for the world! It is a great place to relax, unwind and rejuvenate over the weekend amidst nature, while being electronically disconnected to the world. Yes, while there is wi-fi inside the B&B, the entire area does not have telephone reception, which according to me, makes it even more special. I think they are open for most part of the year, from spring to fall which gives enough time to book a trip there. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and make your reservation ASAP as they get booked out months in advance.
